CLASSIC NORWAY TOUR ITINERARY

June 11 – Friday     CHICAGO

Day 1   Today at 4:20 PM we will depart Chicago O’Hare Airport on SAS Flt 944 from terminal 5.  God Tur!!

June  12 – Saturday    STOCKHOLM - OSLO

Day 2  Our early arrival finds us clearing security and transfer to our Oslo flight at 09:00.  At 10:00 we arrive at Oslo Gardermoen Airport.  Clear Immigrations and Customs.  Here we will meet our guide and bus driver.  Transfer to Norway’s capital city of Oslo and Thon Bristol Hotel.  Dinner is at our hotel.   (H-D)

June 13 – Sunday     OSLO

Day 3  Breakfast at our hotel.  Sightseeing tour of Oslo including: Vigeland Sculpture Park, Viking ship Museum, Kontiki and Oslo City Hall.    (H-B-D)

June 14 – Monday     OSLO – HAMAR - LILLEHAMMER

Day 4   Breakfast at our hotel.  Today we travel to Norway’s Constitution city of  Eidsvoll for a tour.  In Hamar we will see the Hamar Crystal Cathedral and tour the old Cathedral ruins.  Tour the Olympic Viking Ship Auditorium and see the Olympic Amfi Theater.  We continue our journey along Norway’s largest lake (Mjosa) taking us to Lillehammer.  After a short driving tour we will arrive at Radisson SAS Hotel, Lillehammer for dinner and overnight.     (H-B-D)

June 15 – Tuesday    LILLEHAMMER

Day 5   Breakfast at our hotel.  Sightseeing tour of Lillehammer’s Folk Museum, Maihaugen and the Ski Hill Olympic Installations, a ski lift ride to the top.  Walk on Stor Gate during lunchtime.  Our dinner tonight is at our hotel.  Evening free.      (H-B-D)

June 16 – Wednesday    LILLEHAMMER - GEIRANGER

Day 6   Breakfast is at our hotel.  We will travel past Olympic Ski area, Hafjell, Hvite Fjell, the Hunderfossen and bobsled track.  As we travel up the King of Valley’s “Gudbrandsdalen” we will see the Pilgrims Route and Burial Mounds.  Our lunch will be at Dovre Gubbenshall.  Our dreams are about to come true; the real Norway lies ahead as we travel down the Romsdal Valley along the Rauma River seeing huge waterfalls and beautiful mountains.  We will travel through the real Norway up Trollstigen over the mountain pass and down the Eagles Road with a view of the Seven Sisters Waterfall.  Arrive Geiranger for dinner and overnight at Union Hotel.     (H-B-L-D)

June 17 – Thursday    GEIRANGER - SKEI

Day 7   A huge breakfast at our hotel.  We will travel up twenty-one (21) hairpin bends to the top.  From Flydalsjuvet we enjoy another famous view of the Geiranger Fjord, a photographers dream.  Then down again and continue past the snow-capped mountains and lake Djupvatn (Deepwater)).  View the grandeur of the glaciers.  Finally we reach Grotli Tunnel and Videseter where we enjoy a stop at the edge of a precipice overlooking  Videdalen.  We go by beautiful Strynvatn and continue along the Lake Erdal to Oppstryn and Stryn.  As we drive along the Nordfjord we reach Olden and Innvik, over the mountain into the magnificent fjord district of Sunnfjord to Jolster Lake with its exceptional beauty.  Across the water we can see the Jolster Glacier, the largest glacier in Northern Europe.  Our destination for today is the Skei Hotel for our overnight and dinner.  Shopping at Vikens.   (H-B-D)

June 18 – Friday     SKEI JOLSTER - STALHEIM

Day 8  A truly Norwegian breakfast is served.  We begin our day with a lovely drive along a zigzag highway to Lunde where we will travel through the tunnel under the glaciers to Boyum, Mundal (Mondale) and Fjaerland.  Visit the Glacier Museum.  Drive through the tunnel to Sogndal and continue to Hella.  From here we will take the ferry across the Sognefjord to Vangsnes.  We continue up over the Vikafjell with an early arrival at Stalheim.  Here we enjoy the view and a tour of a unique museum.  This hotel is truly a cultural experience.  Dinner and overnight at Stalheim Hotel.      (H-B-D)

June 19 – Saturday    STALHEIM - BERGEN

Day 9   Breakfast at our hotel.  Our early morning tour begins with the Flam railroad.  A short stop at Tvindefossen (waterfall).  In Voss we will see the Knute Rokne Memorial and Voss Church.  Our two-hour trip to Bergen through tunnels and over mountain passes will be an experience you will not forget.  Bergen is built amid seven mountains.  We will visit its harbor and see its colorful houses.  The knitwear and handicraft shops are well worth a visit.  Tonight we will enjoy a festive dinner.  Our overnight is at Radisson SAS Hotel Bryggen.     (H-B-D)

June 20 – Sunday     BERGEN – SLETTA - BERGEN

Day 10   A full Norwegian breakfast at our hotel.  Our Bergen sightseeing tour will include: the summer home of the great composer Edvard Grieg, Mt. Floyen, Maria Church and the world famous fish market.  After lunch we will travel to Radoy (Sletta) to visit the West Norway Immigration Center, the church from Brampton, ND plus all other buildings from USA.  Our “Farewell Dinner” is at the Hella School after which we will return to Bergen.    H-B-D)

June 21 – Monday    BERGEN - USA

Day 11   A full Norwegian breakfast at our hotel. Transfer to Bergen Airport for our flight to USA on SAS.  Travel Bergen – Copenhagen/Copenhagen – Chicago.  Clear Immigration and Customs and take our respective flight to our home cities.   (B)
